Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioner / Nurse Lead - Victoria Wilson

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the unscheduled urgent care at the practice.

Reception And Administrative Staff

Our reception staff are all experienced members of the team and will be happy to offer assistance to help you gain the most from the services available. The practice has a commitment to training in the administration of general practice and from time to time offers placements to students on training schemes.

Please be assured that all members of staff will treat all information given to them in strictest confidence. Remember the reception staff often have to do ‘six things at once’ so please be a patient patient.

Our practice nurses are highly specialised and are available to offer advice, promote good health, perform health checks, give vaccinations and immunisations and to provide cervical cytology and family planning services.

If you have a problem with which you feel the nurse could help, please ask for an appointment at reception.

Healthcare Assistants / Nurse Associate

Lauren Kirby - Healthcare Assistant

Our healthcare assistants are able to provide new patient medical checks, dressing clinics, ECG recordings and monitor certain conditions eg hypertension. They are also able to administer non-live vaccinations and injections such as Influenza and Vitamin B12.

Medicines Management

Zaheer Akbar:  Advanced Clinical Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber

Ruth Parry: Medicines Co-ordinator

Our Medicines Management team are responsible for the safe supply of medications, they can support patients with  various medication queries including supply issues or side effects.

Patients can book with our Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for annual medication reviews or any other difficulty they are having with medications.

Physician Associates

Physician Associates are trained to work within a defined scope of practice and limits of competence to support the Doctors at the practice. They are able to carry out lots of duties such as taking medical history, physical examinations, seeing patients with long term conditions, formulating differential diagnosis and management plans, provide health promotion and disease prevention advice. They work alongside and are under the supervision of the on-call Duty Doctor at our practice so can escalate any medical concerns out of scope. 

First Contact Physiotherapist

Our First Contact Physiotherapist has expertise in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions. He can offer expert advise on how best to manage MSK conditions and can refer patients on to specialist services if necessary. 

Mental Health Practitioner

Our Mental Health Practitioner can provide support to patients with anxiety, depression, stress related problems, emotional difficulties, suicidal thoughts and self-harm, psychosis and bi-polar affective disorder. Please speak to the Doctor who can book this appointment for you. 

Attached Staff (Health Visitors, District Nurses, Midwives)

In addition to practice nurses, the practice has access to the services of health visitors, district nurses, district midwives and community matrons.

Health visitors advise on various health matters including the care and development of children under five and health during pregnancy. They are highly trained nurses who specialise in health promotion, the needs of the young, adolescent and the elderly.

District nurses visit people in their homes who are unable to come to the surgery. They provide an assessment of the nursing services required and initiate appropriate nursing care.

Midwives provide antenatal care at our clinic, advice on all pregnancy related issues and a comprehensive postnatal service for you and your baby.

Palliative care nurses (Macmillan/home care sisters) provide advice and specialist care for terminally ill patients and their families. Support is provided both in the home, in the local hospice or in the practice.

GP Training

The practice is committed to the further training of doctors who, already experienced in hospital medicine, wish to make the career in general practice. A notice will be displayed in the practice advising you of the trainee doctor's name and we hope that you will support our training programme.
